🚀 Meet the Founders of Scailab Part 1 – Giovanni Burresi, Co-founder & CTO
We’re proud to introduce Giovanni Burresi, a visionary technologist, maker, and researcher, leading the tech at Scailab AB.
🎓 With a PhD in Information Engineering, Giovanni has dedicated his work to bridging humans and intelligent systems – from edge AI and industrial IoT to smart environments and robotics. During his academic carreer, his research focused on human-centered machine learning and design thinking applied to Industry 4.0.
🌍 His journey includes a postdoctoral position at Carnegie Mellon University, where he worked at the PwC Innovation Center exploring how sensors and behavioral data could support wellbeing in office environments – balancing innovation with privacy and ethics.
💡 Before Scailab, Giovanni was an early team member at Aidilab, where he helped create UDOO – a family of open-source boards combining Raspberry Pi-like usability with Arduino and Android/Linux flexibility. UDOO became a global platform for rapid prototyping, STEM education, and early IoT applications.
Now at SCAILAB, Giovanni brings that same energy and creativity to building a new generation of systems where robots learn from humans – using simulation, synthetic data, and AI to model behavior and interaction in complex environments.
A rare mix of deep tech, maker spirit, and research-driven empathy — Giovanni is shaping the way machines learn from us.
